Fitness & Health Enthusiast

Becky Lomaka

As the owner of a Pilates studio and a long-time Pilates practitioner, we focus intently on breath work because it is so important in facilitating correct muscle activation and ensuring the safety of the exercises. In addition, it helps clients practice mindfulness; staying in the moment as they focus on their breath helps decrease stress, improves focus, and creates a mind-body connection. I believe deeply in Elizabeth’s online breath work course, FUEL, as a method to help clients with stress reduction, improved sleep, and alleviation of pain.

Cardiovascular/Blood Pressure

Ann W, Ph.D.

“By learning and practicing the Breathing Techniques, I was able to lower my Blood Pressure by 30 points!!! This program really works!!!”

Orthopedic Pain

Beth B.

“With Elizabeth's classes I benefited from reduced orthopedic pain (the result of an accident). With the results of the classes I have been able to choose not to have surgery and can get along with pre-injury status.”

Pregnancy/Motherhood

Maria W.

“Being reborn into a mother has been amazing, challenging and absolutely beautiful. I am beyond grateful to get to experience this journey. Through the great bouts of laughter and joy, and the lonely tear-filled nights, I have been comforted by connecting to my breath. Although breathing is an innate function of our existence, learning how to intentionally breathe is a whole different story. As a 180-pound pregnant woman, I used my breath to combat pelvic floor pain while giving birth unmedicated to my son. I used breathing to bring him lower in my birth canal and alleviate the awesome rushes of contractions. And as a new mom, I have used intentional breathing to ground myself during a challenging moment. By learning how to intentionally breathe, I have been able to be a better mother, partner and friend.”

Nursing & Multiple Health Issues

Lee-Anne Godfrey, President, RN Case Management

I have known Elizabeth for many years, both professional and personally. She never ceases to amaze me with her enthusiasm, creativeness, expertise and depth of knowledge. Joining her for breathwork has been a profound experience. Along with doing the breathing exercises, I am also learning about how the breath actually works with the various systems of the body and with the mind. This is information and experience I can use both for myself and for our clients. Nurses are teachers, as is Elizabeth, and I pass on her knowledge to others so they can benefit as well. Most of our clients have multiple physical and psychological challenges.  Learning to breathe consciously and with intention has helped our clients decrease BP and heart rates, expand lungs that are often compromised and under expanded, all while calming their worrying minds. What a gift! Elizabeth provides tools along with the education.  These are tools I, or our clients, can pull out to use whenever we want.  From rising in the morning to last thing when I close my eyes, breathwork helps me to reduce stress, decrease pain and literally stand taller with feelings of confidence and wellbeing. “I have taken classes with Elizabeth Logue for many years. Her teaching me the 4-7-8 breathing technique is something I use every bedtime. It has been invaluable during stressful times as well. Learning to breathe properly with Elizabeth’s direction is something I will always be grateful for.”

Emotional Health

Molly L.

“Your breath work classes are great source of self- care that I can use anytime I’m needing peace and relaxation. I have trouble just relaxing and being “still”. Your Meditative breath coaching is easy to follow. Your classes create a small, quiet and calming space. I feel “at peace” after class and who doesn’t need some daily peace! I’m definitely addicted in a good way. You are a blessing to so many and I am thankful you share your gifts with us.”

Covid: Stress and Emotions

Howard P

“During this time of Covid, I found the Breathing Exercises caused me to relieve stress and learn to breathe. My mood also benefited by slowing me down.”

Lymphoma/Pleural Effusion

Darlene F.

“I have been diagnosed with Waldenstrom’s Lymphoma and Pleural Effusion in my left lung. I have a Pleurex catheter installed which allows me to drain 300 ml of fluid from my left lung every other day. Elizabeth’s Breath ATX Yoga classes have helped my breathing and reduced my stress. I try to do her class 5 times a week.”

Asthma

Leslie R.

“My asthma improves after the breathing exercises. If I am stressed, the breathing exercises definitely calm me down. I am able to do physical exercise for a longer duration if I do the breathing exercises simultaneously. My quality of life has improved immensely from the breathing exercises!”

The cardiovascular system, also referred to as the circulatory or vascular system, is an organ system that permits blood to circulate and transport nutrients such as electrolytes and amino acids, oxygen, carbon dioxide, hormones, and blood cells to and from the cells of the body to provide nourishment and help in fighting diseases, stabilize temperature and pH, and maintain homeostasis. The cardiovascular system consists of the heart, a muscular pumping device, and a closed system of vessels called arteries, veins, and capillaries.

The muscular system is an organ system consisting of skeletal, smooth and cardiac muscles. Muscles play a part in many of the things you do: movement of the body, maintaining posture, circulating blood throughout the body, controlling your heart beat and breathing, and helping with digestion. Other seemingly unrelated functions, including temperature regulation and vision, rely on the muscular system. The muscular system is made up of over 600 muscles.
